The Dolores S. Aboitiz Children’s Fund yesterday awarded three major grants to three most deserving foundations, and six minor grants to various organizations in Central Visayas at the Eduardo Aboitiz Studies Center.
The major grants were awarded to the Quidan Kaisahan Foundation of Negros Occidental, The Albert Schweitzer Famelienwerk Foundation Inc. and the Little Lamb Center of the Missionaries for the Poor.
For the Child Labor Education Programs, Quidan Kaisahan received a grant of P3.150 million while the Albert Schweitzer Foundation received a grant of P1.037 million. The Little Lamb Center for the missionaries of the Poor received P271,918.
For the minor grants amounting to P200,000, six foundations were recipients of the fund. They are the Handicapped Anchor in Christ Inc, Tsinelas Association, Kaabag Mandaue-Council for the Protection of Children, Presentation Sisters of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Sentro sa Katilingban, and the Forge Inc.
The DACF is a program of the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation, Inc. (RAFI) that focuses on children’s needs and concerns.
RAFI executive committee chairperson Ma. Cristina Aboitiz said the recipients of the grants should focus on child development. For 2008, DACF will be offering a grant of P20 million to deserving foundations. — Jasmin R. Uy/LPM
