Fireworks signaling the passing of the Señor Santo Niño during the procession yesterday hit the feeder and transformer of the Visayan Electric Company near the University of San Carlos main campus along P. del Rosario Street, causing power interruption in several parts of the city.
The power interruption occurred at around 3:40 p.m. in parts of Capitol Site, Imus New Road, V. Gullas Street, P. del Rosario and surrounding areas. Power was restored about an hour later.
VECO spokesperson Ethel Natera said the fireworks hit their CRT 321 feeder located along the route of the foot procession of the Santo Niño for the celebration of the Sinulog.
At first, Natera said they attempted but failed to restore power so they decided to immediately send emergency crew to the area to fix the problem. — Wenna A. Berondo/LPM
