Dead man dumped down treasure hunter’s hole

The decomposing body of a man who had been stabbed dead was found dumped in a hole dug years ago by treasure hunters in sitio Sandayong, barangay Cuanos, Minglanilla town, yesterday morning.

Cuanos barangay councilor Jessie Labrador said the body was discovered around 7 a.m. by a certain Willy Resureccion who then reported the grisly find to them.

Labrador and another resident, Simplicio Bastida, 70, immediately went to the place to verify the report.

The feet of the victim were visible from the mouth of the hole prompting them to call the police for assistance.

They also found a bloodstained sack a small distance from the hole.

PO3 Allen Garciano the duty desk officer of Minglanilla police station said they immediately went to the place and retrieved the body.

SPO4 Remigio Elascion of the said police station said the victim was lying on his belly clad only in short pants.  They surmise the body had been there for days already.

They also believe the victim was slain somewhere else and only dumped in the hole.

The body was brought to Mount View Funeral Homes in barangay Inayagan, Naga City, for autopsy and identification because nobody in the area could identify him.  — Edwin Ian Melecio/BRP
