Documents from the National Statistics Office can now be secured from the Local Civil Registrar Office of Daanbantayan town through the agency’s Batch Request Entry System, or BREQS.
This development was made possible after the Daanbantayan municipal council approved an ordinance implementing the BREQS in the municipality.
The town’s Local Civil Registry Office had earlier seen the need to extend the availability of NSO copy issuances to the public in that northernmost part of Cebu province.
The NSO, in partnership with local governments, developed the BREQS, which provides for an offline method of encoding requests for NSO copy issuances for submission to an online Serbilis Outlet of the NSO.
The local civil registry, in becoming a BREQS user, can now provide more extensive service to the public by accepting and processing requests for NSO copy issuances of documents registered in the town and in other localities.
The BREQS has been found beneficial to the public as this will save them costs on transportation, time and effort in going to the NSO just to have their requests processed.
This scheme, as provided for in the ordinance, also generates additional revenues to the town from service fees of P100 for each person requesting for an NSO copy of civil registry documents through BREQS.
Documents that can be requested through BREQS are copies of birth, death and marriage certificates, copies of annotated or endorsed documents, Certificate of No Marriage (CENOMAR), and other documents that the NSO may later allow the local office to receive. — Gregg M. Rubio/RAE
