Ombuds orders ex-MCIAA exec to answer falsification complaint

The Ombudsman-Visayas has ordered officials of the Mactan-Cebu International Airport Authority to submit, within 10 days, their position papers over an administrative complaint filed against the former airport manager for falsification of public documents.

Lawyer Rogelio Yaun sent a complaint to Ombudsman OIC Virginia Palanca-Santiago alleging that former airport general manager Adelberto Yap falsified public documents. Yaun is also a former manager of the MCIAA

Director Edgardo Canton, of the Office of the Ombudsman-Visayas, directed Yap to answer the charges and asked MCIAA board of directors, Governor Gwen Garcia, Veronica Ordoñez, and Sigfredo Dublin to submit their stand on the issue.

Yaun alleged that Yap submitted a falsified copy of Republic Act 6958 (MCIAA Charter) to the Civil Service Commission to back Yap’s appointment as MCIAA general manager.

Yaun claimed that Yap “falsified” the copy of the board’s charter when the latter allegedly added the words “nomination by the President of the Philippines” to support his appointment considering that he had nomination papers from President Gloria Arroyo herself. — Gerome M. Dalipe/RAE
