Comendador is appointed permanent CCPO director

Senior Supt. Patrocinio Comendador is now officially assigned as permanent director of the Cebu City Police Office to lead over 1,200 city cops.

The order is not that surprising and exciting though as that of Chief Supt. Ronald Roderos’ appointment as new chief of the Police Regional Office-7 because, according to Comendador, the order was actually handed over to him already last July 16, stating that effective July 5 he is already the permanent director of the CCPO.

Yet, Comendador did not make any announcement, saying he has no changes to make on his programs and anti-criminality strategies which he already implemented from the moment he assumed office at the CCPO.

“Sa ako man god, bisan sa acting capacity pa lang ta, I have always performed as if I am already acting as a real director,” Comendador said.

Among the innovative programs that Comendador has implemented are the maximum deployment of policemen on the streets, centralized beat patrols supervised directly by the operations branch, mountain patrols, and night foot patrols.

Aside from said innovations, Comendador maintained the conduct of random checkpoints in the city. Just recently, he ordered police stations to prioritize checkpoints in the interior parts of the city especially in the downtown area.

For such, a considerable decline in the crime volume this year has been noticed. And for his programs and strategies, his men described Comendador as a “hands-on” official.

Last January, Comendador took the post after Supt. Melvin Gayotin had served the CCPO in an acting-director capacity. — Edwin Ian Melecio/MEEV
