Outgoing Central Visayas police director Silverio Alarcio, Jr. was commended yesterday by the Cebu City Council for being “one of the best police regional directors the region ever had.”
The Council unanimously approved the resolution of councilor Sylvan “Jack” Jakosalem who admired Alarcio because of his attitude – “one who is ready to listen and accept suggestions.”
According to Jakosalem, one of Alarcio’s best accomplishments was the holding of a peaceful summit here attended by the members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations early this year.
Jakosalem said that city officials made various recommendations on the maintenance of peace and order during the preparations for the 12th Asean Summit and that these were gladly acted upon by Alarcio.
Although there won’t be any medal for Alarcio, the commendation of the Council that will be given to him in the form of a resolution, signed by Vice Mayor Michael Rama and all city councilors, will “go down as part of his work history in Cebu.”
The other day, Alarcio was given the Governor’s Medal of Merit for his contribution in upholding the integrity of the electoral process in the province and for his contribution to the success of the Asean summit here that made Cebu as the center of global attention. — Rene U. Borromeo/MEEV
