The Cebu provincial government has urged barangay officials to support the call of the Commission on Elections to encourage the youths to register for the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections in October.
The Comelec has started registering non-registered voters last Sunday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. The registration will last until July 22.
Applicants are also advised to come to the precinct office where the registration is held and bring important documents needed during the registration.
The Comele central office already released the guidelines for the conduct of the registration for barangay and SK elections.
However, common complaints about lack of systems, disorder and delay of the registration process marred the first day of the registration for the synchronized elections slated on October 29.
Hundreds of angry registrants stormed the Comelec office in Cebu City only to find out that most of the personnel were unprepared for the registration.
Meanwhile, some towns in the province have experienced problems on the first day of registration due to technical difficulties.
The towns of Compostela, San Fernando, Daanbantayan, Tabogon, Samboan, Dumanjug, Tudela, Madridejos and Sta. Fe experienced problems caused by disorder created by new applicants. — Gerome M. Dalipe with Garry B. Lao/LPM
