Japan pours cold water on German G8 climate proposals

After the filing of double murder charges against SPO1 Mateo Yanson for the death of a moneylender and her secretary, the police are now waiting for the release of a warrant so he could be arrested.

Cebu City Police director Patrocinio Comendador yesterday said that, even if Yanson was already moved to the Regional Security Service Group, the city police or any police unit could still arrest him as soon as the arrest warrant is issued.

Yanson was tagged as the person who allegedly gunned down moneylender Pilar Hernandez and her secretary Wivina Pancho inside the PRH Lending Investors establishment on T. Padilla Street last September 9.

Yanson, along with his cousin SPO1 Elmo Rosales and Troy Tiago, were originally implicated in a complaint at the city prosecutors office and indicted for robbery.

Assistant city prosecutor Fernando Gubalane however cleared Rosales and Tiago from the charges for insufficient evidences against them.

It had been established that nobody saw Yanson shoot to death the victims but circumstantial evidences pointed to him as the assailant, Gubalene said in his 4-page resolution upon review.   In another case involving a city policeman, Comendador said that PO2 Lito Anore is now detained at the Bagong Buhay Rehabilitation Center after he was arrested last month.

Anore was caught allegedly escorting a druglord from San Fernando, and he was later found positive of illegal drug use. — Flor Z. Perolina/RAE
