In a letter to NBI Regional Director Medardo Delemos, Corro specifically requested that the NBI conduct surveillance operation on armed men in plain clothes allegedly roaming around the town. These armed man, Corro alleged, operate as members of the Barangay Information Network.
"There is nothing being done to these BIN''s despite our repeated complaints against them before the PNP," Corro said in his complaint.
Meanwhile, candidates of Lakas-CMD in Daanbantayan asked the Comelec to reassign Senior Supt. Vicente Loot, husband of incumbent Daanbantayan Mayor Maria Luisa Loot.
In their letter to the Comelec, the party requested for Loot''s immediate re-assignment so that he could not actively campaign for his wife and stepson, Sun Shimura, who are running for vice mayor and mayor respectively. Loot is the operations officer of the Anti-illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Force.
The party also questioned the appointment of a certain Iavan Lucero and Rogelio Emillada as PNP Confidential Agents. The party alleged that the two confidential agents have reportedly been carrying firearms, frightening the residents.
Corro, vice-mayoralty candidate Jose De Leon Jr. and other candidates for councilors under the Lakas-CMD signed the letter of complaint and asked the poll body to immediately act on it.
Before filing a complaint at the Comelec, the party said they first channeled their concern to the PNP and inquired on Loot''s limitation as a PNP official. The complaint was, however, reportedly not answered. - Joeberth M. Ocao, Jacques Lora, UP MassCom Intern/QSB
