Minor jailed for trying to sell gun to soldier

A 17-year-old was arrested by the elements of the Minglanilla police station after he tried to sell a .22 cal. revolver to a soldier of the Central Command based in sitio Tagaytay, barangay Vito, Minglanilla town, last Wednesday afternoon.

The minor, who claimed to be a member of the Alpha Kappa Rho fraternity and a resident of barangay Bulacao, Cebu City, was arrested after he tried to sell the revolver to Pfc. June Sumagaysay of the 78th Infantry Battalion based in Minglanilla town.

But instead of buying it for the P1,000 price set by the suspect, the soldier immediately reported the incident to the police station.

Minglanilla police chief Chief Insp. Joseph Mangaron and PO3 Allen Garciano immediately rushed to the scene to arrest against the suspect.

At the police station the suspect said he was only asked by a friend, whom he refused to identify, to sell the said firearm.

Police yesterday filed a case of illegal possession of firearms and violation of the Commission on Election gun ban against the suspect who is presently detained at the Minglanilla police station. - Flor Z. Perolina/BRP
