DAR retrains field personnel

The regional office of the Department of Agrarian Reform in Central Visayas recently conducted a back-to-basics training for its selected Municipal Agrarian Reform officers, Agrarian Reform Program technicians and other field personnel.

This is to enhance their skills and knowledge in the implementation of the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program in the region.

DAR-7 regional director Datu Yusoph Mama approved the conduct of the said training upon the recommendation of assistant regional director for operations Eliasem Castillo.

"This aims to hasten the land acquisition and distribution of lands under the agrarian reform program and at the same time fully equip the fieldmen in the paradigm shift to rural development and provision of support services to the beneficiaries when the land acquisition and distribution be completed," DAR-7 regional information officer Angelina Manubag said.

The land acquisition and distribution to beneficiaries is set to end in 2008.

The training was conducted by the Information and Education Division in coordination with the Operations Division of the DAR regional office.

The modules or subject matters discussed include land acquisition coverage, exemption and exclusion; notice of coverage; procedures in land acquisition; untitled private agricultural lands and land distribution information sheet; policy on various agreements with Land Bank of the Philippines; land surveys and land valuation. - Gregg M.
