Due to the influx of devotees to the Basilica in January of each year, the Augustinian Friars have decided to expand services which will give devotees more information on how the devotion evolved from Cebu to the different cities and provinces in the country.
Various titles given to the Sto. Niño will be featured in this exhibit. Aside from the Sto. Niño de Cebu, the exhibit will also feature the Sto. Niño de Tondo, Sto. Niño de Pandacan, Sto. Niño de Tacloban, Sto. Niño de Ternate, Sto. Niño de Pasion, Sto. Niño de Praga, Sto. Niño de Baliwag, Sto. Niño de Bago Bantay and the Sto. Niño El Capitan General de Filipinas of San Sebastian Church in Manila, which is "accorded a royal cannon salute everytime it becomes a part of the procession in the olden times."
The Basilica said the images which will be put on exhibit are from devotees who have a penchant for collecting differently-titled Niños. Some of the pieces are already very old and precious, while others are of fairly recent vintage.
A P10 fee will be collected from those who would want to see the exhibit, which will be open 12 hours a day from January 10 to February 2. - Jasmin R. Uy/MEEV
