Chief Supt. Alarcio Jr., speaking at the 888 News Forum at the Marco Polo Hotel, announced the coming reshuffling of officials at the CPPO, starting with Sr/Supt. Vicente Loot.
Alarcio clarified however that the slated elections in May had been the reason for the reshuffle, unlike the matter that caused the replacement of Supt. Melvin Gayotin at the Cebu City Police Office.
The PNP national headquarters relayed to Alarcio about the intention of incumbent CPPO director Loot to relinquish voluntarily his position after the Asean Summit next week.
Loot said his wife, incumbent Mayor Maria Luisa Loot, and son Sun Shimura would be running for electoral posts in Daanbantayan. The incumbent mayor would run this time for vice mayor while her son will run for mayor, he said.
Governor Gwen Garcia, a political ally of the Daanbantayan mayor, chose Loot for the post of CPPO director in September 2005.
The police official had said he would not wait for an order to give up his post at the CPPO, due to the elections, and would rather ask for his transfer to a post at Camp Crame. He added that he already recommended names to replace him at the helm of the provincial police.
Candidates for the post are Regional Operations and Plans Division chief, Sr/Supt. Carmelo Valmoria; Regional Intelligence and Investigation Division chief, Sr/Supt. Augusto Marquez; and Regional Mobile Group director, Sr/Supt. Jesus Gacquing. -Gregg M. Rubio/RAE
