Widower wounded in Danao shooting

A 43-year-old widower had just gotten off a motorcycle-for-hire when his neighbor approached and shot him at sitio Guba in barangay Cogon Cruz, Danao City Thursday night.

The victim Lurdesendo Capuyan Roble, a resident of the barangay, was hit in the abdomen and was rushed to the Danao District Hospital. He was later transferred to a hospital in Cebu City for further medical attention.

Personnel of the hospital in Danao informed the city police station through telephone about the wounded victim, prompting the dispatch of SPO1 Rodrigo Roble Jr. to the crime scene.

Shortly after the shooting, the suspected gunman, 37-year-old bachelor Joel Blanquero Jordan, surrendered to his co-barangay resident SPO1 Jaime Meca.

Jordan is now at the city's detention cell while waiting for his indictment on Monday, said Danao City Police desk officer SPO3 Edgar Gomez yesterday.

Gomez said the initial investigation showed that personal grudge might be the motive of the shooting but a follow up investigation is now being carried out to confirm this. - Norvie S. Misa
