The first incident took place in sitio Panaguikan, barangay Tapon at about 9:30 p.m. where Dindo Guanco Jabagat, in his thirties, was stabbed dead by his neighbor identified as Gregorio Amancio, alias "Greggy", 25.
The victim sustained hack and stab wounds in the different parts of his body and was rushed to the Cardinal Rosales Memorial Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.
Initial police investigation revealed that the motive of the incident was an old grudge.
The suspect fled right after the incident but later surrendered to the police yesterday around 6:45 a.m. assisted by Tapon barangay captain Aurelio Aliñabon. He is now in police custody.
PO1 Oliver Ortega yesterday told The FREEMAN that the suspect, who was drunk at the time, went to the house of the victim to confront the victim's wife, Gina.
Ortega said that victim and suspect started a quarrel after a relative of the suspect allegedly raped the victim's daughter.
"Nag yawyaw ni si Gina bahin sa nahitabo sa ilang anak nga gi-rape sa relative aning suspek unya kay duol ra man ni silag balay sa suspek, mao tong wa na kaagwanta iyang gi-confront si Gina," Ortega said.
Gina ran towards their house and locked it when the suspect confronted her, while the victim tried to stop the suspect who stabbed him with a bolo.
Charges are now being prepared against the suspect.
The second incident happened in sitio Balatik, barangay Kawayan at about 9:45 p.m. also last Friday.
Ronie Belicario, single, a resident of barangay Lumbang, of the town, was stabbed with a knife by his neighbor Enrique Debalucos.
The victim sustained a stab wound below his right armpit and was rushed to Ildefonso Alcantara Memorial Hospital in the town but later transferred to a hospital in Cebu City.
Police said the two were drinking when they got into and argument and Debalucos stabbed the victim. Debalucos is still at large.
Ortega said the police are now preparing charges against him even as they are now looking for him. -Norvie S. Misa/BRP
