Talamban Police gets new equipment, cars

The Cebu City government has issued new communications equipment and patrol vehicles to the Talamban Police station after it came up with innovation in law enforcement, this according to councilor Augustus "Jun" Pe, Jr.

This was after Mayor Tomas Osmeña strongly supported the move of the Talamban Police in organizing barangay tanods as a unified force. Pe said that such innovation was undertaken during the leadership of Chief Inspector Marlou Martinez.

Martinez was promoted head of the traffic group and is now part of the Philippine Peacekeeping Force in Kosovo.

The unified force of barangay tanods was dubbed "DB8" to stand for the eight barangays of Station 8 - Talamban, Budla-an, San Jose, Pulangbato, Bacayan, Pit-os, Binaliw and Agsungot.

Aside from new communications equipment to link cops with dispatch, the eight barangays under the Talamban Police station's area of responsibility were also issued a double cab police vehicle as well as two motorcycles with fuel allocation that would enable them to respond promptly to alarms.

"Offhand, I can safely say, this is the most efficient of the 11 police stations of the Cebu City Police Office," Pe said.

Of these eight barangays, six were already issued patrol vehicles with fuel allocation. The patrol vehicle for barangay San Jose was released recently, while that of Agsungot is still being ordered. - Garry B. Lao
