CIIB arrests 4 persons for having drugs, guns

Four persons were arrested by the elements of the Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Branch last Monday for possession of drugs and guns.

First to be arrested was Ruel Rondina Sarmiento, 38, a resident of Maracas, barangay Lahug, Cebu City, who was found with an unlicensed homemade .38 cal. revolver by policemen led by Insp. Wilbert Parilla at a checkpoint infront of the University of the Philippines around 3:30 p.m.

At around 10:45 p.m., Parilla, PO2 Alner Maglinte and PO1s Fortunato Batucan, Cristobal Geronimo and Vincent Alqueza went to sitio Callejon, barangay Labangon to establish another checkpoint. There they arrested Gerwin Cabuenas, 33, a resident of Katipunan Street, who was caught with two small heat-sealed plastic packs of shabu.

At around 11:30 p.m., the policemen arrested Francisco Lavareña Perales, 22, a resident of D. Jakosalem Street, who was found with an unlicensed homemade .38 cal. revolver with two live rounds.

At around 12:45 in the morning yesterday, policemen went to V. Rama Avenue to conduct an operation against video karera machines were they chanced upon and arrested Rosella Sabal, 26, a resident of sitio Banawa, barangay Guadalupe, who was found with two plastic packs of shabu.

All those arrested were brought to the CIIB office for filing of appropriate charges before the Cebu City Prosecutor's Office. - Gregg M. Rubio
