Brit held for hitting sis-in-law's head with mic

Police arrested a British national for allegedly hitting the head of his sister-in-law with a microphone at a videoke bar inside a public market in barangay Poblacion, Sta. Fe town Tuesday night.

The suspect was identified as Thomas Bailey, who was arrested by SPO1 Alberto Juban and SPO1 Wainright Desabille of the Sta. Fe Police Station. His arrest came after a concerned citizen called for police assistance.

A police report said Bailey was drinking a few bottles of beer inside the videoke bar owned by a certain Ofelia Juban. But while Bailey's 18-year-old sister-in-law, Conie Descartin, was singing inside the bar, he allegedly suddenly grabbed the microphone and struck it to her head.

Responding police arrested the suspect who is now detained at Sta. Fe Police Station.

Descartin, who sustained several injuries in the forehead, told police that Bailey would always have an unusual behavior whenever he got drunk. "Ingon ana man gyud na siya kun makainom mogawas ang kabuang."

PO2 Larry Ilustrisimo said Bailey could face slight physical injury and malicious mischief charges if the victim and the storeowner would file a complaint. - Norvie S. Misa/LPM
