Japanese claims losing P476,000 to burglars

A Japanese national reportedly lost at least P476,000 when burglars barged into his house in barangay Suba Basbas, Lapu-Lapu City Tuesday morning.

But police are still confirming the veracity of the report with Lapu-Lapu City Police Station investigator SPO1 Andres Gahi Jr. saying that they found no sign of burglary upon their investigation.

Gahi, however, said they gathered fingerprints from the cabinets, doorknobs and drawers of the victim's house for examination to trace any culprits.

Earlier, Masahiko Saegusa, 65, declared that he lost money to burglars who forcibly entered his house in Phase II, Grand Pacific Villas Subdivision in barangay Suba Basbas.

The victim alleged that the burglars entered his house through a bamboo ladder they used from outside the perimeter fence of the subdivision.

He claimed the burglars managed to get into the second floor and took the money from the cabinet's drawer. - Gregg M. Rubio
