Cops tasked to monitor public cemeteries here

Cebu City Police acting director, Supt. Melvin Gayotin, directed all police station chiefs to closely monitor public cemeteries in their areas reportedly used by drug users and pushers in carrying out illegal activities.

Gayotin issued the directive in response to the resolution approved by the city council requesting the police department to conduct random surveillance and police visibility inside public cemeteries.

City councilor Procopio Fernandez, chairman of the council committee on police, fire and penology and public safety, informed the city police department that drug peddling and "pot sessions" are being conducted inside public cemeteries. - Jose P. Sollano
