Homicide investigator PO3 Henry Estoy of Cebu City Police Office identified the woman as Gerardine Canayon, a native of barangay Kaipilan, Carcar town, temporarily living with her partner Arnold Barawigan along A. Lopez Street, barangay Labangon, Cebu City.
Estoy said Canayon was waiting for Barawigan last Friday so they could eat lunch together but Barawigan failed to come home on time and this led to a heated argument between them.
Barawigan allegedly left their house around 2 p.m. last Friday and never returned until the next morning.
A nephew of Barawigan said he was about to call her to join them for lunch yesterday when he found her weakened and bloodied from slashing her left wrist with a razor.
She was rushed to Cebu City Medical Center for treatment and was declared out of danger. - Edwin Ian Melecio
