Fire hits Liloan furniture shop

An estimated P4 million worth of property went up in smoke when a fire gutted a furniture shop in barangay San Roque, Liloan Friday evening.

The fire was reported to hit San Juan Casting Export at around 7p.m. but elements from Liloan Fire Station allegedly responded to the alarm 30 minutes later. It, however, was put out in just a minute.

The factory's owner, Jovito Cantero, is the brother of San Roque barangay captain Johnny Cantero who rushed to the area upon learning of the incident.

FO3 Roland Capoy said that the factory is located in a mountain area with a narrow road, which caused for the delay of the fire truck to respond to the fire.

A fire truck from Compostela Fire Station also responded to the alarm but met an accident on its way to the fire scene due to the difficult road.

Capoy said some equipment of the factory contributed to the huge amount of damages.

Electricity overuse was believed to be the cause of the fire and no one was reported injured. - Gregg M. Rubio
