Wilmar Villarojo Gabuya, 27, of sitio Avocado, barangay Mambaling was arrested after he sold two packs of shabu to an NBI agent who acted as poseur-buyer using P400 marked money.
Gabuya tried to escape through a secret passage at the roof of their two-story semi-concrete house but the NBI agents immediately surrounded the area. The suspect instead locked himself up inside the house but was eventually subdued by pursuing agents.
The NBI recovered the marked money from the possession of Gabuya, who was later tested positive of the ultraviolet powder during the laboratory examination.
In an interview with The Freeman, Gabuya admitted that he was into selling illegal drugs because he has no other means of livelihood, as he did not finish elementary. In fact, Gabuya said he earns at least P1,800 a day selling shabu.
Gabuya's wife Erna said that her husband is a nephew of a former city councilor. But the suspect denied he is related to the former official.
He has been under NBI surveillance since last week following reports of his illegal drug activities. Last Friday, NBI agents conducted a test buy twice that was made the basis for the operation.
Gabuya is currently detained at the NBI headquarters pending the filing of charges against him. The NBI is expected to file the case today at the Cebu City Prosecutor's Office. - Fred P. Languido
