In Villacin's stead would be Operations Branch chief of the Cebu Provincial Police Office Supt. Romeo Perigo.
Perigo would remain in the post temporarily, Cebu Provincial Police Office director Vicente Loot yesterday said.
But Perigo said he has not received a memorandum designating him as Villacin's replacement.
CPPO Assistant Operations Branch chief C/Insp. Elmer Lim will take over Perigo's post as officer-in-charge.
As the standard operating procedure goes, the CPPO will submit three names of police officials to Talisay City Mayor Socrates Fernandez, who will then pick the next chief.
Loot said his office lacks personnel but has no choice but to let go of Perigo.
The Police Regional Office-7 has ranked the Talisay City police station number one in performance in the region.
Villacin was commended by the mayor for the arrest of two suspects in the murder of traffic officer SPO2 Teofanes Castro who was shot dead along the Cebu South Coastal Road in barangay San Roque, Talisay City last March 11. - Norvie S. Misa
