Cops arrest region's 8th most wanted man

The elements of the Regional Intelligence Office-7 arrested the 8th most wanted man in Central Visayas in his hideout in barangay Maligaya, Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur, last Thursday night.

Pablo Ohayas, of barangay Busay, Pinamungajan town, was arrested by the elements of the RIO-7 led by its chief S/Insp. Glenn Mayam.

Mayam yesterday said that the suspect has a P100,000 reward in his head after the court issued two arrest warrants against him.

Ohayas has a warrant of arrest before the sala of judge Gualberto Delgado of the Regional Trial Court Branch 29 of Toledo City for a murder case while another warrant of arrest was also signed by judge Gaudioso Villarin of RTC Branch 59, also in Toledo City, for an attempted murder case.

Mayam said that the suspect was accused of killing a certain Alejandro Laraga last August 9, 1994 in barangay Busay, Pinamungajan, after stabbing and shooting him. He was also accused of allegedly trying to kill a certain Ireneo Owas in 1993, also in barangay Busay.

Police were also able to trace that Ohayas was once an ex-convict who served time in Bilibid Prison from 1988 to 1991 for the killing of a certain Lito Paslon in sitio Kabaasan, barangay Sambagon, Pinamungajan town. -Flor Z. Perolina
