The FEDMACUPI, in their letter to Norkis chairman Quisumbing through Mayor Thadeo Ouano, said that they want the Norkis Incorporated's display center along Plaridel Street relocated to give way to the construction of the Mandaue City College.
The said college, according to FEDMACUPI President Norma Garbo, will be for the benefit of the poor of the city.
Councilor Wenceslao Gakit said that the said school will only be for vocational courses or two-year courses. He has suggested that the said school be part of the Integrated Technical Education Center or ITED that offers vocational courses and skills training at a very minimal cost.
The matter of the relocation is reportedly with the City Legal Office. According to reports, based on agreement between the city government and Norkis, the said area is only intended for a storage facility and not for a display center. - Mitchelle P. Calipayan
