Raids net 3 pushers, several packs of shabu

Three alleged drug pushers were arrested and several packs of suspected shabu were confiscated during a series of raids conducted by a team composed of elements from Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Branch, and Vice Control Section of the city police in Sitio Dita, barangay Pulangbato and barangay Pit-os early yesterday.

Armed with a search warrant issued by Judge Meinrado Paredes, the team, led by P/Supt Paul Labra, P/Insp. Aureo Sanchez and P/Insp. George Ylanan, arrested Recsil Seno in sitio Dita and seized from him seven medium plastic packs of suspected shabu and 10 aluminum foils.

Police then proceeded to the house of Bimbim Jumao-as, also in sitio Dita, and served a search warrant signed by Judge Fortunato de Gracia.

During the search, police were able to seize 28 small plastic packs of suspected shabu and some illegal drug paraphernalia and immediately arrested the suspect.

At 4:45 a.m., police then went to sitio Cabangahan in barangay Pit-os and served a search warrant against Jam Maraño, who was also arrested after 10 plastic packs of suspected shabu were seized from his house.

At 5 a.m., a search warrant signed by Judge Paredes was served against a certain Rico Bontuyan in sitio Dita. Although the subject was not around, police were still able to recover three plastic packs of suspected shabu from his house.

During the raid on Bontuyan's house, police were able to seize three plastic packs of suspected shabu.

The arrested suspects are now detained at Camp Sotero Cabahug and appropriate cases will be filed against them before the City Prosecutor's Office. The confiscated packs of illegal drug were brought to the police crime laboratory for chemical analysis.

The other day, the Integrated Bar of the Philippines urged the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency to put up a forensic laboratory in the city for a quantitative examination of all drugs specimen submitted to police crime laboratory. - Flor Z. Perolina
