Robbery leaves man dead

A man was shot and robbed last Friday night at Lawa-an I, Talisay City, a day before the city celebrated the Feast of St. Teresa de Avila.

The victim was identified as a certain Reynaldo Nepomuceno, 41, of A. Lopez Street, Cebu City.

Based on the initial investigation conducted by the police, Rosemarie Cabanlit, the victim's companion, said that while they were driving along Lawa-an I heading towards Cebu City on a motorcycle when they were stopped by two unidentified men on another motorcycle.

Cabanlit said the two men pointed handguns at them.

At this juncture, she said that one of the suspects disembarked from the motorcycle and demanded her cellphone and wallet while the other also demanded Nepumoceno's wallet.

But Nepumoceno refused to turn it over and the man shot him before fleeing.

They were last seen heading toward Cebu City.

Nepumoceno was immediately brought to the Talisay City District Hospital and later transferred to Cebu Doctor's Hospital where he later died. - Garry B. Lao
