Twenty-one-year-old Ivan dela Calsada, of barangay Ward 3, Minglanilla, was shot once on the face with the bullet exiting his nape. He died a few minutes after he reached the South General Hospital.
A 17-year-old balikbayan teenager from the United States, and 18-year-old Raymond Basnillo were hit in their thighs by shrapnel and are now recuperating in a hospital at Cebu City.
Minglanilla police chief Carlos Reyes yesterday identified the suspect as 25-year-old Arthur Lariosa, of sitio Vito of the barangay, whose sole target was dela Calzada.
The suspect was arrested and now detained at the town police station while his .38-caliber revolver was confiscated.
Reyes said Lariosa and dela Calzada were initially with their respective group drinking at the side portion of the tennis court adjacent to the plaza where a musical event was being held at the time.
Lariosa apparently got angry because of a joke cracked by Calsada which was allegedly made at his expense so he wanted to get even. When he got drunk, Lariosa left his group and went to the group of dela
