2 would-be hired killers arrested

Two men who admitted they were hired to kill someone were arrested by the Punta Princesa police at a checkpoint last Friday night along Sabellano Road in barangay Punta Princesa.

PO2 Deo Carin of the Punta Princesa police station said Vincent Purgatoryo, 30, of barangay Guadalupe was with Michael Lendio, 29, of barangay San Nicolas, on a motorcycle with plate number ZH-4846 when they were stopped at a checkpoint.

When they tried to speed off one of the policemen grabbed them, causing them to fall off the bike.

Police frisked them and found a .45 cal. pistol with five live bullets and a small pack of shabu on Cavite, another small pack of shabu was seized from Lendio.

Police also found the photo of a man wearing a barong Tagalog.

The two suspects later admitted they were hired to kill the man in the photo and were on their way to do the job in sitio Sugarland, barangay Kimba, Talisay City, when they were arrested. Clarin added the two confessed they had long been monitoring the men whom police refused to identify.

Both men did not reveal who ordered the killing, but they said it had something to do with jealousy. They are now detained at the Punta Princesa police station awaiting the filing of charges against them. - Flor Z. Perolina
