Man gets 6 years for gun possession

A man got a reduced sentence of six years in jail for illegal possession of firearms and ammunition after entering a guilty plea. On September 24, 2004, police frisked Rasul Olegado Mirafuentes and an unlicensed .357 Magnum Revolver with five rounds of ammunition were found. The accused had also no permit to carry a firearm. When arraigned on July 1, Mirafuentes assisted by his counsel Apolinario Panal Jr. pleaded guilty to the crime.

And "with the accused entering a plea of guilty to the charge, the prosecution is deemed to have established the guilt of the accused beyond reasonable doubt," Regional Trial Court branch 16 judge Fortunato de Gracia Jr., in his one-page decision, sentenced Mirafuentes to "four years and two months and one day to six years in prison and "to pay the costs of the proceedings."
