CEBU, Philippines - The National Union of Peoples’ Lawyers Cebu Chapter (NUPL-Cebu) in coordination with the Community Empowerment Resource Network (CERNET) will hold the first ever Visayas-wide Peoples’ Lawyers Conference on May 26-27 at the Rajah Park Hotel in Cebu City.
At least fifty lawyers, law students and paralegals from Panay, Negros Occidental, Negros Oriental, Cebu, Bohol, and Eastern Visayas (Samar and Leyte) are expected to gather to share and discuss specific cases of human rights violations in their respective regions or provinces and collectively act to contribute greatly in the campaign to seek justice for human rights violations and end impunity in the region.
The conference will start at 9 a.m. of May 26. This will be followed by simultaneous workshops where participants from different regions or provinces will collectively discuss specific cases of human rights violations occurring in their respective regions or provinces.
A press conference will be held on same day at 12:00 noon to highlight the objectives, issues and concerns that the Conference is putting forward. (FREEMAN)
