For Amparito Llamas Lhuillier, the day she had her conferment of Doctor of Humanities (Honoris Causa) was a triumphant moment of her life.
It’s not every day a person is conferred with his honor, and it took all of 17 long years for the University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) to bestow upon Amparito this title, that is, after acknowledging how actually important was her philanthropic gestures to thousands of scholars she sent to school. Thanks to the sincere inspiration of Dr. Milagros Espina who steered the ALLEF efficiently and the unstinted and loving support of her husband, Consul Michel Lhuillier.
So, during the conferment of the Degree of Doctor of Humanities Honoris Causa by Rev. Fr. Enrico Peter Silaob, OAR, he was assisted by husband Consul Michel Lhuillier. This was followed by the awarding of Medallion and Diploma by Fr. Silab assisted by Mr. Demetrio Quirante, University Registrar. After which, Dr. Amparito Llamas Lhuillier delivered her response.
Immediately after the conferment rites held at the Center for Performing Arts, USJ-R Campus, a big dinner reception followed at the Casino Español de Cebu Ballroom where hundreds of the Lhuilliers’ friends and relations from Manila and Cebu came to congratulate Amparito for a “magnificent” job well done. Congratulations!
