CEBU, Philippines - Pasta Lovers, you are in for a treat!
Waterfront Cebu City Hotel's La Gondola has prepared not only one but three Pasta Specials for the whole month of March.
Known to be the home of authentic Italian dishes in town, La Gondola will satisfy any pasta lover's crave for the dish, or for any Italian dish for that matter.
Italian born Chef Alessio Loddo, Waterfront's Executive Chef and La Gondola's Chef, has made three pasta specials: Gnocchi Alla Sorrentina, Chicken and Tortelline Prosciutto and Vegetable Lasagna.
Like the other dishes in La Gondola which are Chef Alessio's own recipes, these are made only of real authentic Italian products imported straight from Italy.
"But we have made changes to it because we want to adapt to the Filipino's taste," Chef Loddo explained.
Chef Alessio who was born and raised in Sardinia (Italy) further explained that there are a lot of similarities and differences in Italian and Filipino food.
He shared that in Italy, they are fond of using spices in their food, just like Filipinos. They have dishes that are akin to Filipino food like our famous lechon. But he said that like pasta, the Filipino taste differs from the Italian taste.
"Italians like the pasta aldente, Filipinos like it well done. Our sauce is a little bit sour because of the tomato sauce, but Filipinos like it sweet."
The three special pastas would be available every Friday and Saturdays of March.
If you're not feeling like pasta, though, La Gondola has a lot more you could choose from.
Their top dishes include the Gamberoni Arrosto or grilled jumbo prawns with tomato and lemon salsa, Pancetta wrapped Australian pork tenderloin and the authentic Italian pizza.
A must try is their Tiramisu special, traditional tiramisu with layers of mascarpone cheese and Savoiardi cookies, tossed and marinated with Italian espresso and dusted with dark cocoa powder.
Waterfront Hotel has other restaurants you can choose from. Especially for this month of March, graduates get a treat from Uno restaurant. Just by presenting a valid school I.D. graduates dining with a group of five or more can avail of a complimentary lunch or dinner buffet.
Café Fortuna has the East Meets West buffet every Sunday, offering the best international cuisines for only P750, from January to March.
Treff offers 50 percent discount on all drinks from 5PM to 9PM every day. In Pool Aquarius, you get a complimentary use of the swimming pool if you order their featured item with a soft drink of your choice.
Mizu offers the delicious Amasu Ankake, the deep fried Garoupa fillet in Japanese sour sauce available for the entire month of March.
If it's something for your sweet tooth, then there's no better place than at Madeleine with their Lychee Strawberry Bomb.
