CEBU, Philippines - What does 2012 have in store for us? A lot have been apprehensive about the coming of 2012 thinking that it will bring about the end of the world. International Feng Shui expert Maritess Allen said that based on Feng Shui, 2012 is a transformative year, with promises of growth, political and economic turnarounds.
“From the Feng Shui standpoint, it’s not the end of the world. In fact, the Dragon year is the most auspicious year in the Chinese Zodiac because, if you notice, the dragon is the only mythical creature among the other animal signs,” Allen said.
The Dragon is considered a symbol of good fortune and intense power. The most recent Water Dragon year was in 1952. It was the year the Queen Elizabeth II assumed the throne of England after the death of her father, King George VI; the United States detonated the first hydrogen bomb and Britain developed an atomic bomb; it was the year that the polio vaccine was developed, as well as the first contraceptive pill.
The year 2012 is promising, said Allen, but, since the Water Dragon Year is lacking in fire energy, intelligence and creativity will suffer. Here are some of her predictions:
Business
Although there is growth potential, people need to work hard because the Dragon year will be very competitive. “Wealth luck is good but businesses need good strategies and proper planning to take advantage of this.” Allen said. The Year of the Water Dragon is a good year for real estate and banks and the financial sector will recover. There will also be technological advances in the communications industry and wood-based industries will thrive.
Career
Leaders in the workplace will face opposition in the Year of the Water Dragon and his or her authority will be challenged. There will be lots of politicking in the workplace, as well as a lack of creativity. Allen said promotions are possible but those who are aiming for such will face fierce competition.
Relationships
The year will be great for singles and newlyweds and it is an excellent time for having a baby, she said. But because the External Flower of Romans star rules in the Year of the Water Dragon, marriages will come under emotional strain and sex scandals and love affairs can cause problems among married people. Those who are born under the Year of the Dog could also suffer marital affairs.
Education
Academics will suffer this year as students will have a hard time staying focused on their studies, said Allen. There will also be lack of opportunities for knowledge seekers and students really need a lot of coaching and dedicated study time to be able to do well in school, she added.
Health
Health concerns will be on the rise this year, according to Allen. Injuries associated with the waist and ears, as well as kidney and urinary problems will be among the top causes of health concerns. Patriarchs also need protection from physical harm. People, she said, should eat healthy and avoid late night outs.
