CEBU, Philippines - Come, watch, discover and celebrate Cebu’s finest at the SM City Cebu Northwing through the “Cebu, Cebu” exhibit from January 7 to 29, with daily performances from January 10-15.
Showcased are the works of Philip Tampus, Arcy Gayatin, Grace Alberio Guinefolleau, Images Camera Club, among others.
* Philip Tampus. Dubbed as the Romantic Designer, he is a Cebu-based bridal and evening gown designer with more than 14 years of experience in Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. He has made a mark with his innovative and avant-garde collections that have been spotted in various elite fashion shows. He competed in Mega YDC in 1994 and was one of three Cebuano contestants for Project Runway Philippines in 2008 where he placed first runner-up.
* Arcy Gayatin. Cebu-based fashion designer extraordinaire, Gayatin is recognized for producing creative yet wearable clothes for women. She tops the industry when it comes to material manipulation and creating ageless designs that can easily be brought from the runway straight to a woman’s closet. She has distinct techniques that are yet to be surpassed.
* Grace Alberio Guinefolleau. GA Cebu Intertrade Export is a Cebu-based manufacturing company featuring the most refined and rare furniture, home accessories, as well as fashion items made from unique materials such as the shagreen, more commonly known as stingray (found only in Indo-Pacific waters). With the intricate process of creating objects from fish skin, the company led by Grace Alberio Guinefolleau has gained the highest respect in the industry.
* Clayton Tugonon. Exhibit also features furniture designer and manufacturer Clayton Tugonon’s Una Cebu Car. The car has an exterior made with coconut flower’s stalk and rattan strips, the dashboard made from a blend of two-toned shells, while the steering wheel and shift knob made from shagreen.
* Images Camera Club. When it comes to photography in Cebu, the club has always been the top choice. Started back in 1984 from a simple photo workshop, it has evolved into a respected group of Cebuano photogs. At present, members of the club have won various photo contests in the country and abroad such as the ASEANTA Excellence Awards in Hanoi, Vietnam. Featured are Cebu landmarks through the lens of Kenneth Sy (Magellan’s Cross), Jo Cua (St. Catherine Church), Erwin Lim (Nuestra Señora del Pilar de Zaragoza, University of San Jose-Recoletos, and Immaculada Concepcion Parish), Dwight Lu (Jesuit House of 1730), Ted Madamba (Nuestra Señora Patrocinio de Maria), and Mike Jo (Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral).
