CEBU, Philippines - There’s something very fetching about an elegant vintage vibe. For while it brings you back to the oh-so stylish decades that’s devoid of anything particularly weird, it is undeniably sophisticated, classy, and oh yes, timeless. This is undoubtedly your perfect accessory to any outfit.
The Diane von Furstenburg runway takes the vintage-inspired hairstyle of the 1960s bouffant into the forefront of the 2012 hairstyles to watch out for by updating the look into the mirrored French twist. This is one hairstyle that fits somewhere between the 2012 spectrum of ‘dos that’s somewhere between neat and downright careless. Either way, it’s something that’s elegant, evocative, and oh-so fun to create and recreate.
The beauty about this ‘do is that it’s not only fit for an evening event but it can go very well with casual garden parties or even a nice walk in the park when you don’t necessarily want to have your hair in your face. This will go very well with a cardigan, a tea dress, and a pair of dainty flats. Do not forget to throw in a pair of gradated shades for an added oomph and extra chic mileage.
Admittedly, this may not necessarily be the easiest ‘do to cap but it will be an fun experience and those moments of having to practice will eventually pay off. Sweet and spicy, this hair style will be one for your 2012 FB PFP (Profile Pic) and believe me, it will have squads hitting the like button before you can say “Log Out”.
Here’s how to step into 2012 as one hot mademoiselle:
1. Prep hair by applying a nice leave-on conditioner to remove the frizz.
2. Divide the hair into three sections. First, part the hair from the center all the way to the nape of your neck, giving you two equal sections. Divide another section from the recession, to the crown, and then to recession. Clamp the top section out of the way.
3. While still keeping them separated, back comb the two sections to provide height and volume.
4. Brush one side of the section back towards the center and twist it on itself before pinning it in place.
5. Brush the remaining section towards the center, twisting it into itself so that it meets the other half. Pin it in place. Now you have two lower section pinned at the back, creating two French twists.
6. Take the top section and back comb it to create height.
7. Blend the top section with the rest of the hair and brush it back to the crown area. Tuck the crown section underneath itself and pin it in place.
8. Adjust the height accordingly before spraying it generously with hairspray to allow it to settle in place. (FREEMAN)
