With designers as well loved and well established as Philip Rodriguez putting knit dresses on their catwalks this season, his bridge line Filippo has set herself a difficult task: turning humble knit separates into anonymously cool luxury items and making them stand out in chic evening campus soirees. With help from his frequent travels and a pretty pack of young things (P.Y.T.), this celebrated designer mostly succeeded for the school season. Working in nude, black, heather gray, and white, animalia neutrals and bursts of color, he kept her silhouettes young, short, and, for the most part, airy, save for a pair of leggings and hyper-couture feather skirt in scarlet. Dresses were non– constricting and covered with tiny pleats. Something so easy to be worn, sans sequins and beads; the sheaths came effortlessly with swingy silhouettes at the back; and pin-tucked puff-sleeve blouses topped cuffed walking shorts.
A basketweave-like knit that appeared as rosettes as well as at the color blocked shift dress with rich heritage of fabrication, but it didn’t mess with the rest of the collection. Instead, it turned out Filippo’s own must-have in the form of a sack dress made from exquisite linen rather than knit—a promising development given that this bridge line is Philip Rodriguez’ ultra chic but reasonably priced collection. All available at Filippo boutiques in the Northwing of S.M. City Cebu and Ayala Center Cebu. Bravissimo!
