The UV Graduate School recently held an alumni homecoming. Conducted jointly with the officers of the G.S. Alumni Association, the event bannered the theme, “On the Threshold of the University Centennial – UV’s Kings and Queens.”
Actually, this activity was one of the series of activities UV is initiating as preliminary event to celebrate its 100th founding anniversary.
“These are the kings and queens my late father, Don Vicente Gullas, spoke about in his memoir, “remarked Congressman Eduardo R. Gullas, in his message to the more than 200 participants of the Homecoming. He was also referring to the six outstanding G.S. alumni who were awarded plaques of recognition during the program. These awardees were: Dr. Bonifacio S. Villanueva, president of CTU, Dr. Tomas L. Ramos, president of Talisay College, Dr. Isabelo R. Montejo, DENR Bureau Director, Dr. Rhea Mar A. Angtud, Cebu City school superintendent, Dr. Eufemia L. Cañete, Executive Assistant of the UV president and Dr. Lourdes G. Tolod, Dean of Education of Xavier University.
After pointing out the outstanding accomplishments of the university in various fields, the Congressman, who is also the University president, thanked the attending Visayanians who, despite their various concerns, had taken time to come “home” to their Alma Mater and renew their commitment to its ideals of love, service and leadership.
