Alumni Homecoming 2010

The University of the Visayas College of Education will hold an alumni homecoming on July 31 at the university quadrangle with the theme Looking Back, Moving Forward. The Elementary Students Council of the University of the Visayas has a new set of officers for school year 2010-2011. Elected officers are Stephanee M. Cahayagan, president; Jean Claire E. Trangia, vice president; Lovelyn D. Catarinin, secretary; Nicole S. Baron, treasurer; and Rhyn Mark M. Montesclaros, auditor. The senators are John Clint E. Trangia, Shelley B. Carreon, Maria Danielle A. Estorninos and Jerome G. Batas.

Board members are Rexi Cynna Maning, Laurence Dave S. Candia, Kyle Vicente S. Baron and Kate Arianne B. Tampus. Joyce dela Calzada is the adviser while Venue M. Cortes is the grade school principal.

After 50 years of fruitful sharing of love and life, Carding and Lita Urbina renewed their marriage vows. The occasion was also cherished by their loving children and grandchildren Jill and Kelly Viado, Jet and Dennis Canoy, Guia Urbina, Grace and Edman Absin, Raki and Cecil Urbina, and John Paul Urbina. The ceremony was held at the Pedro Calungsod Shrine at the Archbishop’s Palace. The reception followed at Laguna Garden Café at The Terraces, Ayala Center Cebu.

The Ikebana International Cebu Chapter 145 recently had their induction of officers and new members last July 26 at the Cervantes Room of the Casino Español de Cebu. Honorary Consul of Spain Jaime R. Picornell was the guest speaker and inducting officer, as well. Inducted into office are: Carmen A. Go, president; Edith Casenas, vice president; Ding Mangubat, secretary; Tessa Zosa, assistant secretary; Gemma Castro, treasurer; Gina Bonghanoy, assistant treasurer; Norma Sanchez, liaison officer; and Maritter Klepp, historian. The board members are Corito Abalos, Carmen Garcia, Beacky Peralta, Zelia Borromeo, Marilu Hyden, Helen Yap and Betty Uy. Margy Sy is the adviser.
