CEBU, Philippines - The rainy season is finally here. Gone are the days when we can freely wear our sundresses, walk all over the town with our ever fashionable aviator glasses and romp carelessly in the streets with our sandals, flops, heels and wedges without worrying of getting soaked in the rain.
It is definitely time for a wardrobe change. But gloomy skies and the rain shouldn’t stop you from looking fabulous. Here are a few tips to help you stay dry but still in style during this wet season:
• Have a good and dependable statement jacket. Jacket is synonymous to rain, you cannot really go out of the house without wearing anything to protect you from the cold and prevent your entire outfit from getting wet and soiled. For this season, it’s very practical to invest in a good quality and stylish jacket that can protect you from the rage of monsoon rains as well as make you look good and would give a statement to your outfit. Choose a jacket that will keep you warm and dry.
•Always carry an umbrella. Oh no! That maybe is your initial reaction. Umbrellas can sometimes spoil the look of your wardrobe, often opt leaving your umbrella in the house. But during this wet season, it is best to have one ready, especially since you cannot really tell when it will rain. Umbrellas will not only keep you from getting all soaked. It can also help liven the outfit that you are parading. There are many varieties of umbrellas right now that are very light, easy to put in a bag and very stylish. There are also umbrellas that come with a very chic deco bottle case.
• Make sure to have a water proof bag. This will not be hard to do because bag makers nowadays offer a lot of options, including big water proof or plastic bags. Make sure to purchase one of these bags as it will not only protect your belongings from getting drenched, it’ll also be able to contain all the necessary gears you need to keep you dry.
• Don’t forget to purchase jelly sandals and wellies. Yes, this is the time of the year that you are licensed to wear boots without people raising an eyebrow. But ordinary boots won’t be able to withstand all the rain and the floods. Choose boots that are waterproof and very sturdy. Wellingtons or wellies and jelly sandals are better alternatives during the rain. They come in different styles, too. If you are on a tight budget, you can just buy the jelly sandals but they won’t keep your toes dry!
• Don’t wear too much make-up. Opt for simplicity this rainy season. This will keep you from looking like a clown if and when you accidentally get all wet. ?
