CEBU, Philippines - Is the perfect accessory still eluding that summer dress? Are you tired of your accessories looking exactly like others down to the very last detail? Or are you even simply just looking for something that would spice up your wardrobe?
This summer, get ready to accessorize to the max as the heat brings TWiST, a collection of accessories made just for you.
TWiST, inspired by the different moods of its creator, Bea Sagun (a University of the Philippines Visayas Cebu College Interior Design student) got its name from the way metal was bent, coiled and twisted to define beauty in each accessory. It is a series of mood-based collections that go well with different events such as: debuts, promenades, pageants, weddings, beach parties, and casual night outings.
And if you’re looking for a gift for that special someone, TWiST is just the thing for you. Every piece is the only one of its kind so any problems you might have with uniqueness just flew out the window. The pieces are also customizable to add a more personalized touch.
The materials used for each accessory varies, metals paired with pearls, glass, beads, semi-precious stones and even feathers. Accessories with a dangerous feel have accents such as rugged, jagged rocks, while those trying to convey a mellow mood have pastel color bases.
There are different collections under TWiST. Some of which are the drinks-inspired collection, the hippie-bohemian collection and the hippie-bohemian-meets-mod collection. The accessories are as interesting as their names such as, Buzz Lightyear, Seaflower’s Revenge, and my personal favorite, the Frosted Dark Kamikazee
Trivia: TWiST’s debut was during the Harakirimosh rock and fashion show in Handuraw, Lahug, last year.
There are different accessories from brooches, to earrings, to long necklaces, to pendants, and to bangles and hoops. Each accessory, Sagun explains, goes with certain things.
With regard to the brooches, “These suspended bead corsages are my favorite style for summer. They look good on tote bags, sling bags and beach bags. The colored wires that creep above the bead bunch are twisted and looped unto leather straps in an elegant pattern. Semi-precious stones, shells, and beads are woven with wires, pulled together into a complicated yet beautiful bunch.” Sagun shares.
As for the earrings, you can wear them anytime. TWiST’s Feather earrings look good with vintage clothing. TWiST’s chandelier earrings can also be for casual night outs with girls. And the dolphin earrings and turtle earrings are for when you feel like going to the beach.
TWiST’s hippie-bohemian inspired long necklaces go with the basics such as flowy dresses, plunging necklines, muted colors and high necks. Sagun says, the necklaces are made of “Wood contrasted with the slightest repose of metal. These pieces definitely jive with a bohemian mood mixed up with a little Arabic African feel.” True enough, they give off a hippie-bohemian feel with a Filipino finish. TWiST’s long chained necklaces also go well with sleeveless shirts or tube tops for gigs and night outs this summer.
And TWiST’s statement bracelets, inspired by hand corsages go well with dresses for elegant occasions. These lovely statement bracelets pulled together by strings and wire emulate the beauty of flowers. They give off a peculiar yet sexy feel. TWiST’s cocktail inspired bracelets are also very eye-catching giving off a sense of laid-back elegance to the wearer.
