CEBU, Philippines - It is Marriott International’s core value to make all efforts to preserve the environment. This April 2010, the Cebu City Marriott Hotel (CCMH) celebrates Environmental Awareness Month kicking off the celebration with their participation in Earth Hour which took place last March 2. The hotel switched off its major light sources for one hour and invited hotel guests to participate likewise.
The green campaign continues in CCMH as they gear up to partner with Manila’s much talked-about ECHOstore, located in Serendra Fort Bonifacio Global City. The ECHOstore will soon occupy a portion of the hotel’s gift shop, creating environmental awareness and promoting sustainability to consumers. With barely two years of operation, the ECHOstore has received several awards including the Ayala Malls Green Award in 2009 for merchant’s initiatives in educating and promoting sustainability of the environment to customers and practicing sustainability in store operations.
All products in the ECHOstore are environmentally and animal friendly. They support poverty alleviation programs, sustain marginalized, indigenous and creative communities, and proudly showcase Filipino design excellence. The ECHOstore features a whole range of products such as home décor, fashion accessories, food and beverage, products that help the environment, books, music and many more. Particularly, their display in the Cebu City Marriott Hotel gift shop will carry items for health and wellness, body, beauty and nutritional products, gifts, and products made of recycled material.
