Hans Hauri, the hands-on and, I must say, delightful general manager of Marco Polo Plaza Hotel had every reason to smile and celebrate.
After months of meticulous planning and overseeing every detail of the project, the Blu Bar and Grill, located at the hotel’s top floor, is now ready to open its doors and welcome guests.
Likewise pleased and impressed with the outcome were Metrobank chairman emeritus Dr. George S.K. Ty, Marco Polo Plaza Cebu president Rey Villar and Asia Pacific Top Management chairman Alfred Ty.
Special guests included government officials led by Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña, DFA Undersecretary Frank Benedicto, Tourism Undersecretary Phineas Alburo and Nanjing City Mayor Hongkun Jiang. The diplomatic corps was represented by China’s Consul General He Shi Jing and his wife, Honorary Consul of Russia Armi Garcia and Honorary Consul of Sweden Jose Sala.
Invitees sipped excellent wines as they savored a selection of sumptuous appetizers such as salmon, cheese rolls, toasties, kebabs and open sandwiches.
A lively band that played Latin music contributed to the success of the evening, not to mention the full moon in all its’ splendor, which provided a truly spectacular setting amidst the thousand glittering lights of the Queen City of the South.
Whether for cocktails or a night cap, Blu Bar is the perfect place to start or end a wonderful evening.
