When Lara Weds Rius

The beige invitation, with a lavender ribbon beautifully tied into a bow, set the tone of the wedding of Rius Agua and Lara Naomi Verdan at the chapel of the Archbishop’s Palace of Cebu.

The couple met in Manila while undergoing language training. Almost love at first sight, they continued to communicate with each other for a year until both realized a long distance love affair was not what they wanted.

They soon began preparations for a truly intimate wedding in all its simplicity and elegance, which both set of parents Marius Agua and Antonia Cui and Angelo Verdan and Ma. Lelani Echaves-Paredes gladly agreed to.

The principal sponsors were Benjamin and Lilibeth Agua, Patrick and Ma. Viveca King and Glenn and Honey Loop.

Rius’ childhood friend Erwin Bersoto was his Best Man while Naomi’s sister Laarni Mae was Maid of Honor. Patricia Viveca King Tortosa was Matron of Honor.

Unlike most weddings, the bearer of the rings and coins were grown up gentlemen who have touched the couple’s lives. They were Carlo Franco Subejano and Jesson Lim, respectively.

The church décor of white Malaysian mums and purple dendrobiums highlighted by white calla lilies was done by florist Scented.

A classic summer reception immediately followed at the beautifully maintained landscaped garden of Chateau de Busay. The restaurant, renowned for its excellent food, prepared a sumptuous meal while upcoming baker Joan Danao baked a unique single, mocha and orange chiffon wedding cake surrounded by dozens upon dozens of mini cupcakes that were distributed to all the guests.

Cheers to the newlyweds who have a unique zest for life and here’s looking forward to many more years of blessedness as husband and wife.
