Passing through a vacant lot, the procession snaked its way to a small rectangular clearing where a small chapel stood. The chapel will soon undergo expansion through the efforts of the residents of DAS Highway Center, Lutopan, Toledo City under the leadership of active resident Roger Alferez, who organized the Santacruzan sa Lutopan.
The event is now on its second year after a successful fund-generating event last year led by the officers namely, president - Rolando Rapiza; vice-president - Patricia Rom; secretary - An-an Basalo; treasurer - Florencia Lanzaderas; auditor - Marites Alferez; and adviser - Melvin Alferez.
The reinas and zagalas really prepared for the event and even took pains to secure gowns that corresponded to their titles. Very interesting to note was that the participants bought, rented or borrowed gowns to make a good presentation and most especially to re-live the faith and tradition of the Santacruzan in their own little way. Even the little girls as angels played their part very well.
The residents were really united for a noble purpose - to generate funds for the expansion of the chapel of St. Isidore. Aside from their time and effort for the rehearsals and the event proper, they also contributed an affordable amount for the expansion.
Bravissimo to the men, women and children behind Santacruzan sa Lutopan 2008!
