Dark, homey, and classy, that’s what your favorite cake shop, the Red Ribbon at SM City Cebu, was until they recently renovated the store to a trendier, vibrant, and bolder look that speaks more of the store’s drive to attract a younger breed of cake lovers.
“We started this new store concept last year with our stores in Trinoma, Commonwealth, and the Mall of Asia,” said Red Ribbon’s VisMin operations manager Cherry Uy.
Passing by the new Red Ribbon in SM City Cebu one could not help but be vacuumed into the large inviting entryway with a large glass display counter gently and neatly curving in one corner flashing the guilt-fully delicious and tantalizingly tempting fares. A breadcart displaying the store’s sweet concoctions neatly packed by piece allows patrons to pick and choose the baked goodies of their choice.
“We want to create something that is more inviting and more appropriate with our tagline: Whatever the celebration it’s more beautiful with a red ribbon,” said Michelle Leslie Llanos Head of Commissary and Operations in Visayas and Mindanao.
“Now there are more lights and more colors that reflect the colors of our products,” Yu added.
Rey Cabaluna, Red Ribbon Area Manager for Cebu, said that although each store is designed with the new concept, these do not necessarily look the same since they are still experimenting with colors, they hope to come up with more exciting color combinations for the interiors.
The egg-shaped modular tables, the ergonomically-designed geometric deluxe chairs, and the extra-comfy club chairs are also something new for this cake-house adding pizzazz to the whole lively concept of the shop.
Just as lively as the atmosphere in the new shop, the new product lines introduced by this cake icon are a classic on its own.
The Dulce de Leche which was introduced in January is a smooth blend of our favorite leche flan and the perfectly soft chiffon cake. “Last February this was heart-shaped to celebrate Valentines,” said Cabaluna. True to its name, the Dulce de Leche is rich with creamy mouthwatering sweetened milk and caramel icing generously spread over the cake and accentuated with cream rosettes and chocolate spirals.
A must-try for the month of March is the freshly-baked Cinnamon Rolls “filled with the flavorful goodness of cinnamon, raisins and cashews.”
A novelty product of Red Ribbon is the Cakes By Design (CBD) which was launched last year. Yu said that they have already purchased new licenses for cartoon characters soon to be revealed. Indeed something for kids to look forward to.
This year the cake-house also partnered with fashion icons Rajo Laurel and Frederick Peralta for their designer collection intended for couples hunting for that perfect wedding cake. Each design is an inspiration for the bride-to-be’s wedding gown. Yu expects the designer cakes to become a hit this 2008.
Featuring the “subdued yet chic” designs of Rajo and the “elaborately detailed” designs of Peralta, the designer collection promises to become a centerpiece of that much anticipated wedding celebration.
Yu said that as the bake house continue to develop its products and to repackage the new store into a more fun and lively place to dine and lounge, patrons would expect more new products that would better meet their demands.
