Another Milestone for Lourdes Reynes Sevilla-Quisumbing Former Secretary of Education Lourdes Reynes Sevilla-Quisumbing met for the first time her Sevilla relatives last October 25 at a dinner in Patio Isabel, Banilad, Cebu City. Indeed, a true gesture of family foundation-dining and knowing each other amid laughter and introductions.
As a prelude to being a keynote speaker for the 29th National Convention of Christian Family Movement of the Philippines (CFM) on October 27, the Former Secretary of Education arranged to meet with the families of her half siblings from Vicente Hizon Sevilla. Cora Quisumbing King, her tireless daughter opened the gate to the Sevilla connection using the internet between USA, Canada and the Philippines.
Actually, October 25 was historic for all Sevillas especially those in Cebu. It was a milestone...the coming together of relatives long been sought for, a milestone which could not happen until the former Secretary of Education reached her infinite age of 86.
During the dinner were: the grandsons of Agapito S. Sevilla – Dr. Angelito Prieto, his wife Chona; businessman Anthony Prieto, his son Mark Anthony who took the bar recently and the daughter of Ramon S. Sevilla, Marlyna Orat Sevilla Villadar, a Canadian snowbird and her husband Amado. From the Reynes-Sevilla Quisumbing were: Lourdes and some of her sons – Blue Boy, Dickie with his wife Dr. Terry and son Raffy, Ely and his sons – Richard (he came with daughter Rhainne) in computer business-Altair Solutions Concepts; Raffy also into computer, working with Richard; Charles -SVP of QEX, exporter of fashion jewelry and gift items. Blue Boy is into insurance, Dickie and Ely are twins and are both engineers.
Dr. Prieto was heard saying: “I never thought it could ever happen...” while Marlyna now 72 admitted “I prayed to be connected with the Reynes/Sevilla/Quisumbing all my life. Thank God, I can leave this legacy to my children.” Another get-together is planned in the near future, a bigger group this time is expected.
