Sabarre: Outstanding Samareño 2007

Odon Sabarre, first artist-in-residence of Region 8 and first Filipino dance scholar to Russia will receive an award as one of the 18 Outstanding Samareños 2007 for his exemplary achievement in the arts which has brought honor, prestige and status to his fellow Samareños in our country.

This prestigious award is given by KASALE (Katiguban Samareños Ha Leyte), an organization formed by Samareños in Leyte coming from three Samar Provinces (Northern, Western, Eastern). KASALE’s president is Commissioner Aurelio Menzon.

Other well deserving Outstanding Samareño awardees are: Supreme Court Justice Eduardo Nachura, PAG-IBIG President Romero Federico Quimbo, Commissioner Marcelino Libanan, Governor Ben Evardone, Congressman Emil Ong, Director Chito Roño, ABS-CBN tv host Boy Abunda, Philippine Star columnist Ricardo Lo, Ambassador Bien Tejano, Herway’s President Alexander Tan, PNU President Lutgardo Barbo, William Medici, Colonel Esteban Uy, Sister Belen del Monte Velarde, Lucien Letaba, Elinando Cinco and Elena Agala, who are well respected in their own fields.

Awarding took place at the People Center in Tacloban City last October 20, 2007.

President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo was the Special Guest of Honor and was to give the Certificates of Recognition, assisted by Presidential Assistant to the Visayas Victor Domingo.
